In this PDF, we present some of our recent work and analyses currently conducted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Vodacom Congo (DRC).

Whilst fully protecting the privacy of their subscribers, Vodacom Congo (DRC) provides us, in addition to technical support to ensure the data pipeline is constantly running, with anonymised (pseudonymised) mobile operator metadata (call detail records, CDRs) which can be processed to infer population mobility.

In this PDF, you will find information about:

  • the type of CDR-derived population mobility estimates we produce,
  • examples and details on the reports we produce for the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) at the Ministry of Health (National overview synthesis reports, and Detailed health zone-level monthly reports),
  • examples of displacement estimates (weekly demo data), and
  • information about the data source (CDRs), and our methods.

We've been active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2018. Since then, we've supported numerous humanitarian and development actions or projects, for example with analyses related to COVID-19, Ebola, or the 2021 volcano eruption.

As technical partner of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) at the Ministry of Health, we currently provide them with cutting-edge mobility data for childhood vaccination planning under the Equity Accelerator Fund (Fonds d'accélération de l'équité en matière de vaccination), supported by Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, and IOM.
