Flowminder were invited to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Telecom World event in Qatar, 2014, to contribute experience and expertise on big data analytics.
A leading, high-profile conference for the telecommunications industry, Telecom 2014 provided Flowminder an opportunity to engage with other experts and researchers from the big data field. Linus Bengtsson contributed to a panel discussion on ‘Big Data for Development’, sharing his experience of anonymised data analytics in combating Ebola in West Africa. In addition, Dr. Bengtsson lobbied for greater access to and sharing of data, through the formulation of new privacy agreements and anonymisation of identifying data characteristics.
